Of course Dave chooses, possibly, the most nazi-looking rank (rank 9) for his account, despite being an admin and having the ability to set his rank to literally any other. What are the odds?

I'm a huge fan of Trump. And I have no qualms with Dave generally, but the Dave I know on this platform has used, let's say, questionable premises so far in the course of this politically heated forums thread.

Trump's foreign policy is miles better than his modern predecessors. But he's heavily influenced by those around him like Stephen Miller and Jared Kushner. They're holding him back, advocating for a more measured "practical" approach to guiding America's military actions on the world scene. Trump survived A SHOT TO THE HEAD. He bled for us. The troops are loyal to HIM. He should lead an American military force to Greenland. He should seize more than that. We should occupy Venezuela and Cuba and turn Trump from their de facto boss to their de jure president. The American Empire can begin NOW. He just has to select an heir, a proper heir. I WILL BE THE TRUE HEIR OF THE AMERICAN EMPIRE.

Oh I'm fine with going and invading Greenland. It should take us all of about 20 minutes to capture. We should grab Canada too on our way back.

Politics today are very polarized and there is no middle ground, it is the same anywhere - in US, EU, anywhere with democratic systems. It is sad really. If you asked me 10-15 years ago, I was closed to Republican policies than Democratic, especially on economy. Now everyone is on "your" or the "other" side. Nothing good comes of current state of things. People didn't care this much about politics, now friend circles get destroyed because people get too affected by politics.

Well I definitely agree on this... things are super polarized right now and it is sad. I wish everyone could find a way back to being able to have honest debates without destroying friendships. I don't know the answer for that.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Even though I don't agree, it really is fascinating to me trying to understand how the other side thinks.

Clearly your side thinks my side is a bunch of racists. I mean you straight up said that we're "red-pilled men who adore strength and racism." That's totally crazy to me. I really don't understand where the racist accusation comes from? (I'm resisting the urge to be offended here and think about things objectively)

Brother, I said that MAGA base is a broad tent and the small part of it is racist red-pilled men. I never said it is you. A lot of MAGA is moderates who vote for tax relief and similiar programmes. I thought that I clarified in my post well this:

3. The MAGA base is a very broad tent - but the key demographic Trump brought into mainstream politics is red-pilled men who adore strength and racism. Even though this is a small portion of his base, it's big enough to make a difference in general elections.

1. You said it yourself: Trump is more popular than polls predict him to be - this is historical. Polls have never successfully captured his full level of support. This isn't the case with other Republicans, though; when Trump isn't on the ticket, polls tend to be more accurate.

2. Vance just isn't charismatic enough to unite Trump's base. He could and will try to, but it will fail, and he will face opposition within the party as well. I don't think there's a single person on the right capable of uniting the tent the way Trump did (well, I actually think there is one, but for the sake of this post, let's leave that for the end ). Even Trump himself doesn't do it anymore at the level he did before - partly because key players on the right know it's his last term and are fighting for a piece of the cake for themselves, and partly because his age and health issues are showing more and more. It's becoming undeniable, just like it became undeniable with Biden in the last year of his presidency.

3. The MAGA base is a very broad tent - but the key demographic Trump brought into mainstream politics is red-pilled men who adore strength and racism. Even though this is a small portion of his base, it's big enough to make a difference in general elections. Vance doesn't navigate this part of the coalition well. On one hand, his wife is of Indian ancestry and his children are mixed-race, and the racist part of the MAGA base dislikes that. On the other hand, he isn't even defending his wife, which comes off as weakness to that part of the base aswell. This guy said what the average red-pill guy thinks about Vance:

Yeah, the guy is a complete idiot, but he's saying what his followers think.

All that said, as you know, I'm a liberal myself, and I'd actually prefer Vance as the Republican nominee. I think he would lose to anyone in a general election, including (but not limited to) Newsom. I'd even go as far as to say he would lose to Kamala if she won the primaries in 2028.

As a side note, the only better-prepared candidate on the right - whose populism and messaging I actually find electorally dangerous - is Tucker Carlson. If he were the 2028 Republican nominee, I'd bet on him to win the general election. I don't think that he will candidate himself in 2028 though, and without him I believe as of right now that the right will lose both the Midterms this year and general in 2028.

The guy in that video... I have no idea who he is, but he definitely doesn't speak for me, or anybody I know. I literally don't know a single MAGA follower who thinks like that.

I think it's a caricature invented by the left to dehumanize us.

I live in Nevada which is basically a purple state, but I live in one of the reddest areas. I have a business here and I interact with our customers on almost a daily basis. I also travel to California frequently. So I see a lot of different people. The town I live in is mostly white and hispanic, with a few blacks, asians, and whatever else. You'll see people wearing Trump hats and cowboy hats. You'll see people openly carrying firearms (which is legal here). We also have a few lefties here... I'm sorry to say it but they are not hard to spot: the blue or purple hair, the girls with a bajilion piercings and nose rings, and so on. And yes we even have at least one trans person who is one of my customers. I don't know his/her/their name (we've never discussed preferred pronouns), but there is a guy who has the physique of a man, the deep voice of a man, but who wears women's dresses, makeup, and has long hair styled like a woman's, who comes in about once a week to buy stuff from me.

How do all these different people get along? They get along just fine. There is zero racial tension here as far as I've ever seen. Those on my side don't really think about it much. We're very much "live and let live" people. In the 3 years I've been in this place there have been exactly zero fights over race. If MAGA was as racist as you believe, wouldn't they be gunning down brown and black people every day? Especially in a place like where I live, where literally half the people carry guns every day?

The reality is, racism just isn't a thing here. In fact, quite a few (not all I'm sure, but a lot) of the hispanic people here love Trump. How is that possible if we're supposed to be racist?

I know there's probably nothing I can say here that would change your mind. I live in a different place and have very different experiences than you. I would just say this: if you want to find which side is really closer to the truth (yours or mine), spend some time with real life "MAGA" people and see for yourself. Don't listen to these fake psyop "MAGA" people on YouTube or social media. I mean go to any "red" town in the heartland of America and talk with real people.

I think you will find that MAGA people generally believe the following:
- We love our country and are not ashamed to say it.
- We "live and let live" -- you can be whoever you want to be as long as you're not telling me how to live my life.
- We cherish freedom of speech. We like open debate and asking questions and it's okay to disagree -- that's how we all learn from each other.
- We are self-sufficient. We want less taxes and less government intervention in our lives.
- We love our military and law enforcement even though we prefer not to have to use them, it makes us feel safe knowing they're there.
- We have no problem with people from anywhere in the world coming here to become Americans as long as they respect our laws and culture.

About 90% of the town I live in would say the same things.

As for my own opinon, which as I said I do not believe is important at all on the matter, I think the damage Trump did in relations with EU will be the reason of faster downfall of Western/European/American (whatever the name you prefer) style of life which we all like and prefer compared to the Chinese or Russian model.

Who " we all " like and prefer this shit? Almost nobody , that's why its going down the drain.
Uncontrolled immigration , welfare states, promotion of that LGBTQ bs all things no normal person wants.
Trump maybe accelerating it but its inevitable , leftist cant run a country they only run everything into the ground.
The EU is in a sorry state cus of themselves , it depends more on US than other way around , and Trump will bitchslap it around cus they put themselves in that position.
I hope he takes over greenland too and show them how weak they are , maybe it will be wake up call but i doubt it.

Why don't you think JD Vance is electable?
