When do upgrades take effect?

I unlocked a few new units but they are not available in the Casual game I am playing.

I could _really_ use that Sentry Plane!!!

Not to mention those Marines and Submarines >:)

Casuals are a bit different, all updates you have at the beginning of the game (the point you join) count, everything purchased later will not work

Crap. That is not what I wanted to hear. <sigh>
