Sight Range/View Range

Just wondering how the sight/view range stat works, as I only see the movement range stat on a unit's info. I think most people don't really care how it works, but as I use Iron Fist alot I need to know where my blindspots are.

There is a dedicated button under the minimap that triggers the view range overlay visibility.

question, does unit view upgrade increase stealth detection, if not, could you add an upgrade that does?
